I found a site where a River Ramble is happening in 2008 it’s at http://www.rmboa.org.au there are plenty of photographs and it looks like a fun time.

The River Murray Boat Owners Association do a River Ramble every second year. They operate as a charitable fund raiser along the river and have a lot of fun. I approached them to join their 2006 RR with PV Capt. Proud as a boat skills training event. They would not accept the ANC program as part of their event. When everything comes together ANC will run a separate River Ramble during the term 3 school holidays. I have been talking to PS Marion about this possibility for October 2007 but nothing firm as yet.

I contacted the RMBOA secretary, it’s only $25 per year for membersip plus $10 initial joining fee and a membership kit. Pretty cheap! Michael the secretary, said they run a lot of smaller events. There’s one at the end of May, I’ve got a tinny so I might go, if seem like decent people I might join their association. He also told me about a similar association based around Renmark. If you’ve got a new boat and want to do a big trip on the river and you lack a bit of confidence, what a great way to build confidence and skills!! with the security of many experienced boaters in largish fleet.

Oscar, you seem to be a very negative person. I agree the ANC website needs polishing. That will come when we have more details to release. Regarding the residential college looking like Colditz, you might like to have a look at http://collegiateway.org for some very good information about a major wave of residential college development throughout the world. The major of students and teachers who live and learn in these colleges love the lifestyle.

Freedom comes as a response to responsibility. Some students need to learn about responsibility before they can be trusted with freedom. To each his own style of education but our college will be very attractive to some parents who have lost communication with their children and are concerned about their future. I too know St. Mark’s College, but this is a university college and not senior high school and vocational training level.

I went to the River Murray boat owners thing at Murbko, great weather and great people made me and my partner as non-members feel very welcome. We will be joining their association as planning for the River Ramble is well underway, we’ll probably hire a houseboat and take part with friends to reduce the cost. The secretary said that their committee has a heap of new initiatives for both on and off river in the planning stages.

There are some very competent river boat people in the group. You will enjoy the experience.
